There was a time when I needed help, but didn’t know where to begin. We were losing cars, surviving on government assistance, and trying to raise a family with no clear direction. Financial aid existed—but the chaos of life made it nearly impossible to take advantage of formal education. Resources were scattered, confusing, and often came with a price tag I couldn’t afford. I needed something clearer, simpler—built for people like me.
Years later, after building my life and career one small piece at a time, I decided to create the resource that I wish had existed back then: CatapultU.
Imagine being ready to change your life—but every door you knock on is locked behind a paywall. That’s the reality for countless adults who want to grow but can’t afford to.
Today, even with technology making information more accessible, it can still feel overwhelming to sift through the noise. Many free courses assume a level of prior knowledge or system fluency that not everyone has. That’s where CatapultU comes in.

Founded by Kathy James, a leader in learning & development and social impact, CatapultU was built from both professional expertise and personal experience. Having overcome challenges of her own, Kathy recognized that education comes in many forms—not just through traditional schooling, but through lived experiences, mentorship, and self-driven learning. Kathy understands firsthand how access to the right knowledge, guidance, and community support can transform lives. She envisioned a space where learning isn’t just about acquiring skills—it’s about empowerment, resilience, and unlocking potential.
